Stainless Steel 347/347H is a titanium-stabilized stainless steel that offers excellent mechanical properties. These plates and sheets provide outstanding corrosion resistance and resistance to intergranular corrosion when exposed to temperatures within the chromium carbide range. They also exhibit higher creep and stress rupture properties compared to other alloys. Additionally, they have good low-temperature toughness and superior strength. Stainless Steel 347/347H plates are particularly suitable for use in diluted organic acids at medium temperatures. They offer features such as high tensile strength, durability, and precise design.
Alloy 347 (UNS S34700) is a columbium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel plate with good general corrosion resistance and somewhat better resistance in strong oxidizing conditions compared to Alloy 321 (UNS S32100). It exhibits excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after being exposed to temperatures within the chromium carbide precipitation range of 800 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C). The alloy also possesses good oxidation resistance, creep strength up to 1500°F (816°C), and good low-temperature toughness.
Alloy 347H (UNS S3409) is a higher carbon (0.04 – 0.10) version of Alloy 347. It was developed for enhanced creep resistance and higher strength at temperatures above 1000°F (537°C). The increased carbon content enables dual certification in most cases.
Alloy 347 stainless steel plate cannot be hardened by heat treatment; it can only be hardened through cold working. It is easily weldable and can be processed using standard shop fabrication practices.
